Some companies pay physicians to give lectures about their products to other doctors. Should physicians accept payment for giving talks on behalf of medical companies?

1.6/11/2008 2:15:00 PMIf the talk is advertised as being promoted by the company, the audience ought to be able to extract the objective information without being seduced
2.6/12/2008 12:58:00 AMEVERYTHING MUST BE DISCLOSED BY THE PHYSICIAN SPEAKER BEFORE THE LECTURE IS GIVEN. These talks (and I give them with support of many pharmaceutical companies) are a useful means to reach referring physicians or colleagues, serve to update other physicians on new ideas, new clinical approaches, and new products, and are a useful way to spread unbiased knowlege about patient care. It really depends upon the speaker.
