If many vendors or organizations were to offer free full scope EMR online, and the EMR systems were very similar in function, security and ease of use, which vendor's system would you choose? Please select your favorite.

.11/22/2007 5:48:00 PMI can't say at this time.
.11/22/2007 6:14:00 PMI don't know
.11/22/2007 6:28:00 PMNone of them. I feel that vendors should focus on "front ends"--i.e. the browsers accessing and displaying the data, but that there should be a single-source/single-structure to the back end database. Too much money is spent maintaining disparate systems, and the future of medicine is the use of aggregate de-identified patient data as the evidence-base for quality improvement. The question is, who will be the trustee of the data ?
.11/22/2007 6:37:00 PMcan not say
.11/22/2007 6:50:00 PMwould need to judge which system is the best.
.11/22/2007 6:59:00 PMI would chose Microsoft based onpast experience but I would need to actually look at the features on the different systems. I have reviewed many different systems and in general, I do not think they are oriented to what would work best for the provider but rather what allow the system to decrease its costs by download work ontothe physicians. I have viewed some that have been created by physicians that do take into account how to allow physicins tio spend their time seeing patient and minimize their time in charting and contacting the patients with results.
.11/22/2007 7:15:00 PMI'd evaluate the functionality of each and decide
.11/22/2007 7:23:00 PMunsure

.11/22/2007 8:40:00 PMWhichever system were able to integrate as a truly patient focused utility, i.e. contained both inpatient and ambulatory information. I.E. would have to be adopted by my hospital as its patient record/workflow/pharmacy engine.

.11/22/2007 9:02:00 PMnot enough information to answer this question...would need to research companies and products
.11/22/2007 9:36:00 PMprivate corporations / EMR programs
.11/22/2007 9:45:00 PMcheerios
.11/22/2007 10:01:00 PMI will participate in online EMR if it is Doctor-centric but not patientcentric
.11/22/2007 10:56:00 PMCentricity

.11/23/2007 12:29:00 AMEverybody has their strengths and weaknesses. I couldn't pick a vendor without suffcient information; though I doubt that I would pick the government, health insurance company nor the pharmaceuticla company.

.11/23/2007 6:59:00 PMI would need more information to sort between these at this point; there are a few I would definitely NOT select, but then several that I have no reasonable way to sort between....
.11/23/2007 7:24:00 PMI would hope we would have a nationwide universal system, otherwise it would not be as useful

.11/24/2007 3:35:00 PMNot any corporation or entity that is not entirely and uniquely focused on an EMR. Multi-tasking companies can't do this, since if the EMR does not drop profit to the bottom line who is going to assure that the system will be around forever. Government systems are very slow, costly, full of mistakes, already funded by us and awful already, why should we pay for more slowness. Go look at Epic.

.11/26/2007 3:03:00 AMare you nuts? The incentives to hack the system to breach privacy are too great. Think Hilary Clinton's stealing FBI files on her "enemies"
.11/26/2007 11:04:00 AMi would continue to use our institutionally endorsed system
